The Darkness don't surprise me
Anymore than The Light
Some might think it's curious
And others might think it's night
And I ain't got no elliption
or illusion to explain
A different tale of treachery that's trapped inside the brain
It tells you stories of intellect imbued with selfish pride
It tells the sins of gluttony and lust in all that died
And everyone that's come and gone
has embellished to these sins
And opened up a door and let multiple ones in
And though we try to say I'm an angel
It's so hard to believe
And you try to be an angel
But The Devil's very hard to deceive
And no one wants your excuses
of what your tattoos mean
And all the blood pumped in your veins
is just burning gasoline
From devils, demons, tortured souls and taboo blessed and lies
and look into the bloodshot gaze of another angel's eyes
and you'll see
I'd love to be an angel
but The Devil's hard to deceive
So hand me my horns
as we try to make it all make believe
But there's something very real about the evil in this world
There's something very fictional of fate
There's something very torturous of blood spilled by the hands of those who did not have time to relate
Though I've tried many times to open eyes of the blind
and shout loud on the ears of the deaf
The time has come for tortured ones and twisted tongues to know that all we know is that there's nothing really left
And I tried to be an angel
but it ain't so easy
I tried to be a saint
but it ended so easy
I tried to be an angel
It's so hard to believe
I tried to be an angel
but The Devil's very hard to deceive
The spirits come upon you
and no one seems to care
The devilish and whiplash coming thru their crooked dares
of lies spread across in tongues that you can't understand
They hold the mouths of promises and gold from distant lands
And I can't ever hide you from those who must know
The magick that surrounds you the aura you abode
I sense there's something special in your skin that I feel
and I just wanna get inside and understand if it's real
